Report from NRABlog.com
The 32nd annual Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) National Championship will take place July 23-28 at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico. The YHEC National Championship is the pinnacle of the YHEC program. Top-ranked individuals come together from across the country to compete. This event is the most advanced of all YHEC events — all participants to have completed a hunter safety course, as well as a YHEC event at the state level (if your state has one). This is a great opportunity for young people to work with skilled coaches (and enjoy the great Whittington Center facilities).

Do you know a youngster who might want to compete at this year’s YHEC National Championship? Registration is NOW OPEN!

NRA started the Youth Hunter Education Challenge way back in 1985. Designed to promote and encourage safe, lifelong hunting, over 1.2 million young people have participated in YHEC since its inception in 1985.

YHEC regional programs help kids 18 and under learn hunting, marksmanship, and safety skills. From rifle, bow, and muzzleloader shooting, to wildlife identification (see below), map & compass orienteering and more, YHEC participants get hands-on training in eight (8) skill areas. This is a great program for parents and kids who want to go on family hunts together.
