Good to see intrest in My ole #1 shooter. Thanks to this discussion I’ll be getting barreled action for my worn-out #1V in 22-250. I’ve owned 6 of these # 1’s rifles & still have 5. I’ve hunted deer, elk,turkey from Texas to Colorado western Sloan. Yes we shoot turkeys with deer rifles if your very careful and using a one-shooter improves shot placement and kills with fewer shots. #1 ejectors and spare bulled in hand makes for fast second shot. Thanks for simple fix to my 22-250

For Edward Boycott… Did you ever find a rifle that will shoot 1/4″ at 100 yards?!? That’s basically a one-holer rifle (!) right up there with the search for the Holy Grail. I would like to hear about it (the rifle – if you found such)and what the reload was that caused such accuracy to be attained.

Ruger No 1, truly a work of art. I’d like one that shoots 1/4″ or better at 100 yards. Can it be done? If so, I’d spend the money and then dress it up purdy with pretty wood and some engraving. Please list any gunsmith’s that have done it and KNOW Ruger No 1’s inside and out.

I have a No1 in .338 WM. It is tack driver and has accounted for many whitetails, but have yet to go west after Elk. I love it!!!

I would really like to build a Number One action based rifle in 7mm-08. Do you have actions without barrels or can you provide a 7mm-08 barrled action?

It the stainless No.1 action strength equal to the chrome molly No.1 action? In general, the material properties are not the same.

I have had a No.1 in .458 Win Mag since 1968 and I love it. I would like to have another No.1 in .458 Lott. Any .458 Win Mag available for rechambering? What about a .458 in stainless?

I would really like to build a number one based rifle in 7mm-08. I will willingly replace the barrel of one of your barelled actions. Since this is the case will any of the actions on sale work for this purpose?

My next dream is a Number 1 in 500Nitro Express.
I have the ‘smith in mind (he’s a #1 specialist), but as usual funds (or the lack of them) is the issue.
Oh, I already have two others, a 17Rem, and a 300WSM…
