We received a similar letter from Authorize.net as well. We process transactions both face to face and over the internet. The loss of merchant processing the week of a major gun show here in OP, KS cost us allot of money. Currently searching for another processor. If anyone knows of any please email.

Citi is not the only un-friendly credit company out there. GEMoney Bank has withdrawn credit to a local company strictly on the basis it is being used for guns and ammo. Maybe add them to the list of boycott list, I think it will be long.

What a shame, I wonder if they have the same policy for all on-line shopping ?

This of course applies to Texas residents also if the firearm is shipped.

Don’t we already have a huge federal law enforcement agency dedicated to enforcing firearms laws.

Is FDC/Citi looking to be a self appointed arm of the ATF?

I don’t know about you but I get 4 or 5 Citi credit card offers a month. I will begin using their pre-paid envelopes to return an articulately written message detailing exactly why I will be taking my business elsewhere. Thats 60 messges a year from just me. If we could get a couple hundred or maybe a couple thousand friend and family members to do the same thats a big statement.

The best part is using their unsolicited, pre-paid envelopes to make them pay for it:)

Cause for concern – why would a company, who competes with other companies for business, make a conscious decison to turn down potential business in order to advance a political agenda? This hints of larger actions out of view…

The problem is that FDC processes 60% or better of the credit card transactions across the country. They also ‘own’ most of the data lines that ATM information is transmitted across (they own the STAR system). USAA uses FDC for all of their credit card transactions. FDC and American Express also have an agreement — see it here:(http://home3.americanexpress.com/corp/pc/2007/fdc.asp)
First Data is everywhere and is not soley affliated with Citi.
I hope that they feel major backlash as a result of their decision but I am afraid that this just might be the start of something bigger. I will not give up my right to purchase and own firearms and will not have FDC or Citi telling me what to do or how to do it!!
