,.if you ponder buying a 30/06 SPFLD caliber rifle, you need to realize it is a long range, hi velocity, caliber piece of of ammo. It ain’t no .22, .223, or .270. The powder charge and cartridge are designed for long-range firepower. Elk, Caribou, bear, mountain goats at 1000 yards. If u wanna hunt 175 lb deer, a 30/06 SPFLD is way overkill, particularly at anything less than 400 or so yardsB-)

I don’t know any proficient shoooter who sights a 30/06 SPFLD catridge at 100 yrds OR 100 Meters. It is a long-range cartridge. If u,want to shoot SMALL TO medium range, why buy a long-range weapon? Plus, its 2x the costB-)

Picked up an edge in .308 for my grandson as he liked my Rem. 700 so well. Mounted a centerpoint 4X16 and first 2 rounds of Federal 150 gr. were just right of center. Back at 50 next 2 were still right. At 100 took 6 rounds to get the groups inside 2″. And thats off a thin rail just like he will have at the deer stand. Changed lots of Federal ammo and put it in the gun vice…..2 four shot groups both within an inch and 1.5″ high and 1″ left. But he wont shoot from the vice. He went back to shooting from the sholder and off the thin rail and kept a three shot group within 1.5″ of center. It shoots well and the most important thing he likes it and is comfortable with it. It does have a little heavy trigger pull but then I’m used to my Rem. at 2 lb. The action is a little stiff but OK. At $279 a great buy.

The Savage Edge 30-06 is a great rifle. The only two thing is that the barrel heats up fairly fast and the bolt is not as easy to turn as most rifles. I’m also a lefty and it is great to operate. I would also recommend a metal magazine instead of he one that comes with the gun. It can get jammed in the bottom of the rifle and is a pain at the range. Overall a nice rifle.

new this hunt season. Savage Edge .270 with scope. it was mounted crooked. took a few to bring it in. Clip spring seems to be weak. will not chamber fourth shell. tries but slides over and jams. took back today. sending away i guess. overall love it! lite in bush. anyonelse have this problem?

bought savage edge .243 caliber slapped a scope that i had at home sighted in the rifle love it for my kids, was so happy my father bought a .270 model for my kids son shot a doe at 200 yards and she dropped dead.. real happy will buy a 30-06 for myself next year

Being left handed, I’d like to know if the new Edge XP comes in a left handed model and if so is it more expensive than the right handed model. Also where can I get one in left hand?
