Hi, Just a note and a Thank You. I didn’t want to post anywhere our residence could be traced on line, so I decided to email you directly. I wanted to tell you how pleased we are with the bed bunker. It took six men, a furniture dolly, and sliders to get it up the porch stairs and into our room, but it proved easier than my husband imagined, (his words.) As for me, I chewed my nails the whole time thinking it would fall and crush someone. I had tried to persuade him to get a professional safe mover but you know men.

Now for the good part. WE LOVE IT!

I had worried I would have to make the bed every time we had to get into the safe (if I could get into it.) Not so. The mattress slides easily, and you don’t have to slide it very far since you usually open only one side at a time. I can do it without as much as causing a wrinkle to a made up bed. I even put a bed skirt over the safe under the mattress and the bed skirt slides back into place just as easily as everything else.

As for not having a box spring… this of course is something people have to decide for themselves. I thought we had the mattress pretty well supported, but I realized the first night the bed bunker made the bed more comfortable for us. We’re pretty hefty people, though. A box spring is usually made so the bed gives a bit, but in our case it caused sagging. We have a pillow top mattress so it makes the bed a little high, but I still love it.

I read a review somewhere that talked about the exposed hinges. The guy didn’t do his research. You can cut off the hinges and the safe still won’t open. My husband explained this to me… something about a bar across the opening that slides into place so you can’t open the safe if you cut off the hinges. Sounds good to me. The safe displays excellent workmanship and is very solid. We’ve seen on the news where intruders have hacked open the side of a gun safe or even carried the whole thing off. I guarantee you, after seeing this thing, that is not going to happen with this safe.

Anyway, the hardest part about owning it is not being able to show people how cool it is. My husband was always talking about a gun safe but there was no room and I had no plans for featuring a safe in my decor. This was the perfect solution. Thank you so much.

When posting things on the internet, it is not always necessary to spell words correctly. However, when commenting on your own website, please either consult a dictionary at the start of every word or simply leave it to the KNOW-it-all morons who do this sort of thing more regularly than yourself.

I agree with Jack. John Adrian’s unprofessional attitude just stopped my research on the bed bunker.

I like the space saving idea. i do know most box springs don’t have springs plus i have a really nice foam mattress.

I would like to see some fire testing or at least how they get their rating. How many BTUs? any fire board?

I came across this site while looking for reviews of the BedBunker for my new house, but after seeing the condescending, unprofessional attitude from John Adrain (the owner of the company) he just lost a customer.

Guess what John, these morons on the internet may have more money than you think, and word spreads quickly. You may want to hire someone with some people skills to represent your product.

I would wonder about putting 1500 lbs. + guns on a wooden structural floor. I would hate to have my bed fall through the ceiling one night while me and the Misses are in it.

I think gun safes are best bolted to nice solid concrete floors. Let the crooks figure out how to move that one.

I wondered if a person might stub their toes on this solid steel box that’s under their bed in the middle of the night. I sent an email and asked about a padded side curtain, and they sent me a snarky and rude response, complete with profanity, about how only a “blind, Danny Devito hobleg” would stub their toes on it. Extremely unprofessional, and I can only imagine the kind of customer support they would give.

I can’t imagine someone trying to carry one of these OUT of the second story bedroom, primarily: thieves, unless they also brought 7 guys along as the installers probably will!

I like how the legs looks like IKEA furniture legs- helps it blend right in. The mattress slides over, you don’t have to ‘toss’ it, ala a DEA raid. The mattress looked like it slid right off in their video. Maybe trade in the 240lb wife for two 120 pounders…

I would imagine you could even put a fitted sheet on it, which would slow down YOUR access time, but would help disguise it further. If you’re going to buy a $4k safe, you could also spring for a seamstress to sew the bed skirt to a fitted sheet, and REALLY camouflage it big time. Hmm, good idea for an accessory…(Hear that one bed bunker guys? You can make the royalty checks out to me directly.)

A good box spring can add a lot of comfort to a bed. With a steel safe under your mattress you’re not going to sleep as well. How many mattress companies market a solid steel box in place of springs ?

Also, you better have a master bedroom downstairs or a single story home. I can’t imagine someone trying to carry one of those to a second story bedroom.

Not a well thought out option.

I could see this system being a great thing for those with space issues, but I am in and out of my safe too often to want to lift the mattress, and untuck my wife’s bed skirts and what nots to get my rifles.
Would be a great place for someone with valuable rifles not often shot, but don’t underestimate the thieves not finding it. I would put more on the fact they probably won’t be able to move it. One of the first things they do is toss the bed and look under it. Ask anyone who has ever had their house broken into.
