This legislation does not take away state's rights if they do not allow people to carry, it only simplifies ccw reciprocity so it should be easier for us to know we are in compliance.

I agree Dave that neither option is a good one and the 2nd amendment should suffice on its own. ANY REGULATION is bad IMHO. However, at least with FEDERAL firearms laws we dont have to tip toe around each and every county and municipality like a game of twister. I really thought that with the NRA and the recent 2 SCOTUS victories for individual gun rights MD, NY, DC, CA et. al would be crumbling before oue eyes. Why aren’t these neanderthal NAZI regimes being sued back into the stoneage??? We could literally crush some state govts beyond recovery and knowing this they would have to comply or face destruction.

I am sure Heath Shuler has hit a home run with the Obama crowd with this one. Ha Ha
It looks like he will have an uphill challenge in his district this time.He is a Dixiecrat. This will play well for him. I wish he would get straight on some of the other issues he is dealing with.

Since you flipped the coin let’s look at the edge. In the perfect world our founders invisioned the Second Amendement should suffice but that’s not the case. Any hair brain off the wall law that single or multiple states have on the books could be forced upon the rest of us regardless of local and state laws. Becareful what you wish for as it opens up a big can of worms. Take marriage licenses for example. A license from one state is not honored in other states for reasons we don’t need to get into here but write this down, that vote in congress is coming. Any state law regardless of whether it makes sense or not could, with a vote of congress and the Presidents signature usurp the rights of the individual and the state. As far as I’m concerned we have once again surrendered some of our freedom to the federal nanny state. The Federal Government has only the power which we give it. The more we give the more it takes from us,our children and our grandchildren. We have pretty surrendered our right to self determination.

Looking at the flip side of your statement on states rights Dave, why should states have any control at all over a “right” [guaranteed by the FEDERAL Constitution]? Some states like NY and MD don’t allow “right to carry” and I for one would like a Federal guarantee that states run by Demoncrat neo-NAZI types like MD and NY and CA can’t deny me my rights. I see good and bad from both sides of this issue.

While on the surface this appears as good news it is but another example of states rights being trampled by the Federal Government. This issue should have been worked out between the individual state legislatures through reciprosity agreements which many states have done already.
