All the links to SAAMI info (printable drawings) do not work.

Editor: You were looking at a 2011 article. On 12/23/2022 we just updated links. Now you can still find the cartridge drawings in larger PDF files.

Hello,

I’m hoping you can help, I’ve downloaded the .pdfs of cartridges, but whenever I click on a cartridge to get the drawing adobe reader says it can’t open the file.

Is there some kind of lock on the pdf?

This is somewhat off-topic, sorry, but I can no longer access the Rifle cartridge dimensioned drawings beyond Page 1. My computer freezes the download, and I have to cancel that operation. This has been going on since at least the beginning of October.

I am still able to access the entire Pistol and Shotgun drawing libraries.

Please investigate this phenomenon to determine whether it’s something in your site.

Dear sir,
How in the world could you let the manufacturers produce .45s with small pistol primers? This is a diaster for reloaders! Most of us have made the dicovery by Jaming up our reloading machines. What were you people thinking?
I thought you were there to be helpful not to infuriate those of us who use the products. I can see the tree huggers have won out. There are many of us looking for an explanation.

Looking at the drawings, if you take the tolerances to their extremes, it is interesting to see what sort of “fit” you would have with a minimum cartridge in a maximum chamber.

Note, you can also access the more extensive SAAMI/ANSI Standards documents, downloadable from the series of links just below. These also include info on pressure testing so may be of more interest overall than just specific chamber or cartridge dimensions. The Chamber drawings can be accessed from the LIST Pages, which are are hot-linked PDF files. You need to click on each specific cartridge title, as shown in the instructions!
