There are currently 14 drag curves available for bullets from: Berger, Sierra and Lapua with many more on the way of all brands. Drag curves and reticles will be added based on user request. If the bullet you want isn’t currently in the library, you can request it and it will be added to the library.

First or second focal plane optics both benefit from the reticle output view. The magnification adjustment will be irrelevant for first focal plane, but the reticle view is still valuable since first focal plane reticles are usually intended to be ‘holding’ reticles.

In the free version of QTU, Lapuas homepage, Lapuas bullets have dragfunctions available based on dopplerradar measurements. ( For mobile phones, “Lapua Ballistics” can be downloaded for free for both Android and Apple. The bullets in the bullet library marked with a * have the dragfunction. Great SW, but only for Lapua bullets) When purchasing Quickload, QTU is included with drag functions for all Lapua bullets, as well as several, mainly longrange, bullets from Sierra, Hornady etc.

So the use of drag functions is by no means unique for this new app. QTU/Lapua Ballistics works very well with these dragfunctions.

The app feature with reticle view maybe fun for people with SFP scopes, but of no apparent value for (us) FFP scope users.

I use QTU/Lapua Ballistics for bullets where drag functions are available. For other bullets, I like Shooter for mobile phone use.

Without knowing which bullets are available with drag functions in AB Mobile, it is difficult to determine the added value compared to Shooter or Lapua SW.

1) Custom drag curves; this is a custom drag model specific to a bullet. This isn’t G1 or G7. This is a custom model specially created for each particular bullet. It provides that much more accuracy where the G1 or G7 models fall short in mapping a trajectory.

2) Reticle view. This reticle view isn’t just a view of your reticle and a holdover like other apps. It supports different magnification levels and supports the ability for you to enter what you have dialed on your turret and how that will affect your hold in reticle. Again, this isn’t something you’ll find in other calculators.

3) Advanced ballistic calibration. This isn’t your run of the mill velocity calibration (like Shooter has). This is far more advanced and really allows you to tweak your trajectory to match real world effectively.

So if you just do basic calculations and compare the trajectory results with Shooter, yes, they are going to give same results. It’s the advanced features that you’re getting with AB and more to come.
