It’s interesting to know more about this heritage brand. Lapua is sold all over the world and I don’t think many people know about the company. People should know more about the science and technology behind ammunition products more than their purpose to appreciate them.

But have you asked them explicitly how to pronounce the word in their own language?

If not, they are most likely accommodating the way Americans pronounce it to avoid confusion. Similarly, when I have to pronounce my Chinese name to Americans, I do so *without tones* to make it easier for them to replicate the sounds.

As long as you get your name on an invoice, you may pronounce Lapua and/or Scenar however you desire.

However, at the Lapua factory, Lapua is pronounce La pwa. Soft a’s, and emphasis on the 1st syllable.

I’ve heard Lapua pronounced “La-pwaa” as well as the normal way, “La-Poo-a” but I’d never heard anyone pronounce scenar as “skinnah”….

More confused than ever. But they make great brass.

It’s la-PU-a, not LA-pu-a. And it’s not SEENar, it’s SCE-nar.

As a member of the IBS records committee I wish they had used the official IBS measurement for John’s 600 yd. target. It’s a .404″ not the range measured .386″ they advertise.
