If you want to build the ultimate rifle whether its a tube, benchrest, prone, 3p ect. rifle. You need one thing and that is a precision barrel, indexable action like the sqaure action of anschutz or Bill Myers’ Indexable round Rimfire Action. Now with a Eliseo stock with a barrel clamp to take the stress off the action. Make it all American and under $3000 it will out sell, out shoot ect. anything on the market.

Gary, I agree with the price part, but this makes it all the more important for domestic manufacturers to offer modern rimfire actions at much more reasonable prices.

I will say that the Americans are way ahead of the Europeans in the way of tubeguns. The tubegun concept elegantly and economically solves a number of persistent issues that the more traditional European stocks are still struggling with.

The point was to provide a platform for an outstanding, well proven American made rimfire action to the position shooter, at a price thats much more within reach, last time I looked a G&E Racer was about $8500!

Nate, you misunderstood me. There are lots of actions that can shoot straight, including, I’m sure, this one. In fact I don’t think any of the top end actions are much different in terms of accuracy potential. Rimfire accuracy has reached a plateau. What improvements can be made at this point are in the area of ergonomics, which is especially important to the position shooter. A closer port allows easy loading while slung. A dry fire switch makes it less onerous to set up the gun for dry fire practice, etc.

But then, premium American rimfire actions tend to be designed for and by the benchrest crowd, who have very different ergonomic needs than position shooters.

(I see some of the benefits of the actions of which you speak, Tony, but for a position rifle in the hands of the 99.nth percentile, do you think those things make the difference between winning and losing?)

Too bad the designer simply copied a decades-old design, rather than taking this opportunity to catch up with the latest trends in rimfire technology exemplified by Bleiker, G+E, and Uptagrafft actions, which are front-locking, with a ultra-short bolt and a loading port very easily within reach.
