I prefer Redding competition shellholders for this. They allow me to insert the case all the way into the die until the shellholder comes into full contact with the base of the die. I believe this method is very consistent even with brass of varying age.

Yep, that's true... do the math!

Mayhaps the author meant to suggest rotating the die 1/8 INCH at a time - measured around the edge of the locking ring - to effect a change of .001 - .002". I use a neoprene O-ring under my locking rings just to facilitate small changes like this, as well as allowing the die to "self-center" as needed. I get much more uniform results this way than when a die is "locked" in place in any of my presses.

Scott, I agree. I use the die shims Sinclair sells to tweek the final adjustment.
I start the process with a medium shim, set the lock ring as close as I can, then final tune by switching out shims until I get the desired bump.

Sirs,
You talk about adjusting the sizing die "...1/8 turn at a time untill you accomplish .001 / .002 headspace reduction...". Some readers may not realize that with the standard 7/8 - 14 thread on their dies, 1/8 turn will move the die .0089. That small adjustment is possible, but it is difficult to do with this course a thread.
