Why do theses companies all think we want actions that lock the bolt head into the barrel? What we want is a refined Mauser 98 with modern touches. So a Mauser 98 with either a fat bolt 3-6 lug bolt head forged from one piece of steel. Locks into the receiver not the barrel. Machined preise and true enough to build a BR gun out of if so moved.Inertial ejector and M16 extractor. 3 position safety. Really nice smooth elegant lines. Barrel nut so we can change barrels easily. Nice wood and really nice synthetic option. Either a Mauser 98 foot print or Reminton 700 foot print so stocks are easy to find. I am betting Remington sells more rifles in Europe than Mauser does. The standard action should be able to handle up to .338LM. Short action should be good for ELD/VLD bullets on short action cartridges with no COAL issues.

Editor: The bolt-in-barrel is a big advantage for European rifle owners. Some European countries restrict the number of rifles citizens may own. With a system like this, you have one action that can shoot multiple cartridge types with a quick barrel swap and the barrel is essentially a "pre-fit" available from the factory.

New Mauser M98's are kind of expensive. The entry level "Standard" model costs about 13,300 dollars (without sales tax).
