Sounds like your neck tension is too tight. If your brass is clean, instead of relying on spent powder to provide lubricant on a neck that is too tight, why not just relieve the neck .001″-.001″?

This is one of the reasons that many Benchrest competitors (myself included) either don’t clean the inside of the necks or give them just an occasional brush with a worn bronze brush.

There is also some evidence to suggest that the carbon on the neck I.D. acts as a dry lubricant.

I just put some 0000 steel wool on a worn out bronze brush, and spin it in my Case Mate. Then run my US cleaned cases over it. Necks get polished smooth in a couple of seconds. Seating feels smooth and velocity SDs are in the single digits.
