I did mine with plain white paper from my printer, normal tape (5cm) and cheap spray paint. Worked perfectly. Even cut a few crosses with thin strips of tape and used it before painting to leave a few marks to guide myself. Just removed after painting like a stencil.

I picked up whats called a TargetTwister that lets you draw the rings of the AP1 size target. Works wonders. I use my wifes amazon boxes.

Hey Editor: I found Astrobright 24 # neon paper on Amazon, for about $6 for 500 sheets!!! Just picked up a ream. Going to try a few things to keep it all under 15 cents a target. Over 20 and I may as well buy them.

I just came across this and sorry to say that this is not any cheaper then buying the targets already made, florescent card stock run about $35 for 50 sheets.

Check out http://www.visibilitytargets.com for a template to make your own targets with rings and crosshairs. The template also works on steels using s base color and a 2nd contrast color.

Forgive me for chuckling but there is a much easier and obvious way. If the plastic sheeting is brightly coloured and firm enough, eg. file dividers, you simply spray the plastic directly with flat black enamel spray paint. No need for paper or anything else. 2 minutes later you have a reactive target. Works perfectly. You can also use any brightly coloured plastic bottles. Has the same effect.

Freezer paper may work but you would need to paint the other side a neon color.

I would think a guy could also use the waxed side of freezer paper and skip the whole taping or laminating part.
