The .260 is a fantastic round even at 22″. I don’t think I would go any shorter, but at this length, you can have a incredible hunting rifle AND a 1000 yard shooter in one package. Homerun for Colt…..as soon as the price comes down!!!

Depending on what you are doing, even a barrel down to 18″ will get the job done. I have several .260 and 6.5×55 with barrels 22″ and shorter. I am not a benchrest shooter. I hunt and play various gun games. Man sized target at 1000y is easy with these rounds in 18″ barrels.

A .260 with a 22” barrel? Gimme a break! Hold the muzzle brake and add 3” of tube… It will be a smarter move.
