Having shot of lot of SMLE Rapid matches in my time, I think the unstated bit has to be practice. Laurie covers it in detail but I would add that in addition to smooth 5 round stripper clips and loading the clip so the rims feed properly, you should also lube the bolt and bolt way.

At a recent match I got 10 shots away in 24 secs during a 50 sec exposure. Great fun but not the best way to score.

If you set the SMLE up with a single point sling, the muzzle lateral movement is reduced.

And, of course, there is never a need to drop the butt from your shoulder or left your head from the butt with a SMLE.
