Don’t use the boxes as a loading box, they are cheaply made, and the hinge will break apart. I was at a match when I was coming up to the line with my rounds loaded in my Lapua box, when the lid came off, and all my ammo spilled out all over the line. I was not a happy camper. All of this was due to using the cheap Lapua box. The hinge broke and the top was no longer supported. So morel of the story is if you use these cheap boxes as a ammo box, eventually you will have a bad day. Can say what day that will be, but it will happen.

This is new? Bought brass several years ago that came in these boxes. Starting to sound like CNN . . .

Editor: Not new. The article explains the blue boxes started arriving in 2010. But we’ve encountered many folks who still don’t know the boxes are not “throw-aways” but are designed to hold ammo. Hence the reminder…

With foam attached to box lid, no problem with spillage. I find these handy to store preloads, that can be transferred to a smaller box used at range. Box no more/no less “eco-friendly” than MTM boxes that a lot of people use. Blue Boxes seal brass better against the elements than old paper IMHO.

a.) It’s more expensive (must be why we now pay 2x what we paid 3-4 years ago)
b.) It’s not used by many people for what it was made for
c.) Not eco friendly at all, this case will be here long after I’m not anymore
d.) Takes up more space

So besides for the factory that makes these cases, and Lapua that has another reason to increase price, can anyone think of a Pro for the buyer?

I use ‘em for storing other stuff… otherwise they’re too big & bulky to pack well with other gear, or take to the line in my shooting kit.

An MTM-style 100-round box is not too much larger, holds twice as many cartridges AND has a handle.

If you use them only use one load because they top isn’t verry sturdy and when it moves all your rounds will tumble. No fun when it’s filled with 10 loads (Guess how I found out)

I don’t use them as ammo box’s. They are too large & take up too much space, while only holding 50 rounds. They do come in handy though for storing “things”, like all my outside neck turning tools.
