To the poster inquiring about shooting from this vise, I have a fairly heavy 308 and did shoot a group through the vise. It performed well but isn’t intended for shooting. I’m not sure that I would recommend shooting heavy recoil rifles through this vise as it will likely send the rifle into the air unless you modify the vise to strap in the rifle and add weight. Even then anything over a 308 may be too much recoil and damage the vise.

Editor: The short answer is NO. I’m sure people have tried, but this product is designed to hold a rifle firmly during maintenance and cleaning operations. It is NOT a shooting rest.

Just an update,

Cabelas still has these in stock and listed @ $49, but when added to cart, they are $69. If you call, they should still honor the lower price. They are also offering free shipping until Dec. 18.
