My latest update. I had two one hole groups at 100 yards yesterday using H335 26.5 gr and .015"jump. The bullets were 50gr Hornady HPFB Varminator. The Varminator had a longer base to ogive than all the others I have used and allowed for a greater neck contact. I am really glad I selected my old favorites Remington 700

I picked up a 1993 Remington 700 classic three years ago in 222 cal. After pillar bedding and putting a Timney trigger on it it shoots 1/2 moa all the time H322 21.5 GR with 52 gr hpfb hornady.
I really was trying to find a 222 rem Mag when I bought it.
I finally bought a SS Remage barrel that I put on a 1966 700 action. Still working on loads but I've had some .3 groups with it.

I have TC Contenders in the 222 and find the H322 powder to work the best in all four barrels and Hornady 52 & 53 Match bullets to work best in the 14" barrels. The 22" Bullbery likes thr Berger 52gr. bullet the best. The 22" will shoot under a 1/4" at a 100YD. I shoot the 14" in IHMSA matches and have been doing good with it. I know if a beter shooter were to shoot it it would perform even beter.

My .222 is a Rem. Mod. 700 with a Lilja 22 inch stainless 3 groove barrel, 1:14 twist. Topped off with a Burris 6x24 scope. My load is with Lapua cases and CCI 450 mag. primers. Bullets are 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip Varminters loaded with 25gr. 748 and seated so just a slight sign of rifling can be seen on bullet. Best accuracy has been 9 consecutive shots under an inch at 500 yards. One of the 3 shot groups measured .816. For close up shots at varmints out to 100 yards, I use Nosler 52gr. bullets loaded with 6.7gr. of Unique. Velocity is at 1,940fps and 5 shot groups measure .250. The barrel has about 3,000 rnds through it with no sign of accuracy loss. This gun will give any ppc a good run for the money. For the love of the caliber and for more than 50 years with it, I just wanted to share this with you all.
