I just got mine about a month ago, and I love it. Using the same trimmer for a 50 BMG that I use for a .223 makes it worth it to me.

Nice improvement on the Indian river, or whatever the other one is I bought. Fast and finally reasonably priced. Tough paying 4 or 500.00 for a fast tool to trim cases.

A Giraud is basically free. Their resale value is ~95% of new. That means you can buy one for $450, use it for several years, and then sell (literally in minutes) for $400+. It’s a no brainer.

All cases, for the same caliber, are not manufactured identically from the bottom of the case to the neck/shoulder junction. Trimming off the neck/shoulder junction is only done for expediency, and nothing more. If you’re not indexing off the bottom of the case, while trimming, you’ll never achieve consistency when it comes to producing the cartridge’s designed Overall Length.

Being based off the case shoulder, any variance to the shoulder in length will also effect the trimmed over-all-length. The only true way to not have variance in trim lengths is to base trimming from the case-head/base – IMO

I contacted Trim-It to inquire about substituting other cartridge “dies” for a base order (i.e., dies other than 223 and 308) and they advised AOK. Their website is not currently configured to accommodate/communicate “swaps” (for the other cartridges they list), so just call to advise which ones you want.

If you FL size or neck size you need to make sure the case head space is correct, only them will this or Giraud gadget work. case OAL is base to tip.

I also have a Giraud and it works well. The downsides are MUCH more expensive (4X+) and there is a long wait time (currently quoting 12 weeks). I believe they are direct only, so don’t look for a better price. [Actually, Creedmoor has them for 5 cents less – but the same lead time. They are the only other “source” for new units I found when I Googled.] Tons of great reviews on the web, just Google.
