I shot a 30-338 (similar to 308 norma) and the 220’s did let you know on the shoulder when the left the brass.

This is a .308 Baer – have you seen the cartridge? It is larger than a 30-06 and fatter. It is in the .300 Ackley family. This one has no problem shooting a 220 grain bullet at almost 3000 FPS. It kicks like the dickens, but many 1000 yard records were set with this cartridge back then.

Might be pretty but shooting the 220s out of a 308 to a 1000 yards is a pretty lousy way to go.

Palma guys figured it out a while ago that you need to run the 155s to keep a 308 transonic at 1k.
