I had concerns about a NF when a gun seemed to intermittantly 'triple group'.
It was very subtle and load tail-chasing wasn't fixing anything consistently. So I bought another just for comparison, and instantly the gun shot way better with it. Swapped em back & forth for sanity checks, then sent it off to NF to check it.
This was the fastest turn around I have ever seen(3days) and the scope was back completely fixed. Note on the invoice said glass re-bedded, but they didn't charge anything.
Now I hold an extra scope as a 'standard' just for this kind of concern.

I had an issue when I was a Junior where my redfield palma was "locked down" with the vertical scale screws, and the elevation couldn't change. I kept stripping the post where the elevation knob set screw contacted the screw post for vertical adjustment. When this happens the sight is all bound up and all you are doing is damaging the shaft where the setscrew contacts the post of the sight.

Leupold has a similar post/setscrew arrangement in their scopes. You need to index the post and knob by scribing a small line across both of them. You should check the knobs to make sure the shaft isn't damaged. Back off the setscrews and the knob should slip right off (3 screws to a knob on a leupold). If you don't have a leupold you should call the mfg as I don't know how other scope mfg's make up thier elevation knobs.
