I don’t think people on this site are being unduly negative; the issue is more that we are not he target audience for this kind of advertorial. Having shot to a mile personally, I ono the work up and equipment that would make a difference between this being an “easy” exercise and something not.

Remember too, that in the 1990s we used to think that 1000 yards was a long way. Technology and skill has conquered that. One mile is the next normal for long range shooters these days.

I think it’s great they put the effort into accomplishing a mile shot.

Just want to know what size the target was?

What’s an acceptable size to say you hit a target at one mile?

I guess I don`t understand why some here can`t just give it a Good Job.Didn`t you ever want to try something just to see if you could do it.Seems like everywhere I turn another critic pops up. Anyway GOOD JOB Stottlemyers I bet you had fun.

Somehow I feel the adventure would have been more successful if they had used a custom rifle, longer barrel and different bullets (a less brick-like BC is always a good choice).

Skipping breakfast and hitting the area before the winds pick up would also help.

Not using basic reloading gear and doing it in the field too wold give more consistent loads.

Making a mile shot is a accomplishment with a long range purpose built rifle. Making a mile shot is a accomplishment with a high end scope.Think how much it would cost! They did it with a Remington Sendero and a Leupold mark 4.So tell me when perseverance stopped to be a rifleman quality. The accomplishment here may not only be the shot itself, it’s the perseverance and the will to get together and making a 1760 yard shot!

Eddie K, shot 5 shots in 7.5 inches at Ohio with a 308 Baer which is similar to a 300 WIN. That was officially measured in a match.

I’ve tried twice and didn’t hit. Once in a match (5 shots), other time in practice, about 10 shots or so. Both times dancing around the target. Hitting a target once in a whole bunch of shots doesn’t seem like much of an accomplishment. One guy in the comp I mentioned hit it twice in 5 shots, now that is impressive.

Me neither. Try it with a 22 LR next time you may eventually hit it.
