correctly. I have bought one over a year ago that doesn’t cycle correctly and jams. I can’t get Savage to even talk to me about it.

Editor: The versions we shot all cycled perfectly. The reports of problems have generally been magazine related. With some of the production versions it was possible to “lock” the magazine when it was not inserted all the way in. Really shove the mag in hard and see if your problems vanish.

Savage has a good warranty. Simply get a Return authorization if you can’t get it to work, but I suspect you can.

I bought one; would not cycle properly — ejected OK and stripped/injected new round; but hammer did not cock. Returned it to seller who sent it back to Savage. It’s now been 4 weeks and no word and no rifle; how’d I get the lemon? And do I trust that it’s been repaired?

I’ve been able to buy 17HMR quite easily. Maybe this will cause a shortage. Custom stock and barrel are interesting to me. Standard stocks are always too small forcing me to spend a lot of money on stocks. This product excites me.

Robert, Savage Arms has nothing to do with the ammo, the parent company Vista Outdoor (formerly ATK), Through CCI, manufactures the A17 rounds for these firearms. It’s on the up and up.

Great video and bulletin presentation of it. It will be interesting to see what kind of accuracy the factory barrel is capable of, and if a barrel upgrade improves accuracy. Also, for those of us in California, is lead free ammo available, and if if is, how does it perform as far as accuracy and wind drift are concerned? Good job.
