Can you prime 577-450 cases as the shell holder does not fit the RCBS hand primer ?

I use feeler gauges under the lever to adjust depth of primer pocket if I need to. I’ve only had to do that once, otherwise the RCBS bench primer tool works perfectly fine by itself. When I check the depth it’s between .005″ and .007″, Bob’s yer uncle.

I’ve tried this tool (RCBS, w/o the conversion) and I thought it had good feel (sensitivity). The old Lachmiller definetly does also. Out of necessity sometimes a reloader with painful hands and especially thumbs uses a tool of this type. I know that is my case. Portability might be a problem. IMHO if a person already had this tool and wanted to seat primers this method (Measuring heighth of primers) the conversion would be a good way to go.

Until I see a definitive test, I will go with the fact that every short range benchrest shooter that I am aware of seats by feel. IMO some people just love to pick up new reloading toys, and obsess about details that they have not proven improve accuracy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. It constitutes a hobby within a hobby, and really makes equipment manufacturers happy.

K&M’s tool is a hand held, not a bench or press mounted unit. Please reread the intro.

Yes K&M has. I really like their primer seater. I’ve had them since they first come out but at least the one I rigged up works very well and is just as accurate.
