I think a hidden memory pf reading this Bulletin may have pushed me towards a newish 7mm wildcat rifle project last December. That Jason's getting the speeds with 180's he's reporting with the 6.5x47 case necked up, I have to think more is possible using a 7-08 case with the shoulder pushed forward 3.5mm? Named 284INCH by it's inventor Robert Chombart (RGC on the Forum) I have the chambered barrel now and waiting for warmer weather to get cases formed up & chamber throated for 168 - 180 weight projectiles.

Just an update on my 7X47 here in Oz. I was shooting it on the weekend with 140gr Berger VLD Hunting and was getting 2928fps average with an SD of 6fps from my 24" barrel. It's turning out to be a cracking round.

for my reamer print see my thread here

Thanks for sharing your project. I did something similar with a 7mm WSSM. It uses the same bullets, magazines and bolt face as the F-class rig, so with a barrel change I'm set up for short range tactical matches. It has a lot of the same advantages you found.

I would suggest trying superformance. I'm getting over 2800fps with 180 grain bergers.

Guys - a couple things.

Mike - it was 3.5 hours from first shot till the last shot was fired and the ambient temp went up 7 degrees. Download the excel sheet under the sheet shown above to see the rest of the data.

Jim - thanks for that ;) Paul has a couple more that I have been stalled out in completing that should pop up soon :)

Joe, I will work on that print and some photos of the rounds - I actually thought about loaded round pics Friday but didn't have any at hand.

Jason:

Good article. I currently shoot a 7mm-08

Always looking for magazine length Long Range performing cartidge.
Your 7mm-47Lapua could be the next great tactical cartidge.

Could you please post the chamber print?
