Just beginning and havent fired the first round. 70+ years shooting, 45-70, 308, 12ga, 6.5. Just found this ELR dicipline. Bought a Savage 112 Lapua 338, 34 power scope, and some ammo. Need instruction and mentoring. Noticed the classes mentioned are several years ago.

David,

Initial (very small scale) testing showed extremely promising results. Average speed for the one load tested was 3201 fps, with an ES of 3 fps. Accuracy was only so-so, ~1.5″ group at 300 yards. We’ll dial that down in coming days. Feel free to message me at the Facebook site listed above (LBI Precision), and I’ll let you know what steps we took to make the ES as small as we could get it.

4,400 yard shots? Wow 10+ second flight times, bullets dropping a foot for every forward yard gained. 1,000 foot holdovers. Scopes pointed at the middle of the barrels. This does sound impressive to watch.

I’ve had a 375 and a 375 snipetac or improved 375 and run a 32″ lilja barrel 1-10 twist. Tried different combos. Powder , bullets ect. Accuracy was very disappointing Fps was all over. Any help here would be appreciated

I’m wondering how well the Ivey rings hold zero. I know they have been on the market for quite some time, so expect they work well, but have never talked to anybody with long-term first-hand experience with them.

The rings are Ivey Rings, pretty much exactly what you need for this sort of distance. They are adjustable in 1 MOA increments for a maximum adjustment of 150 MOA. (http://www.iveyshooting.com/)

Altogether, 150 MOA rings, 20 MOA scope rail, 55 MOA in the Nightforce Competition scope, and 10 MOA in the FCR-1 reticle adds up to an impressive 235 MOA available.

Looks like the rear scope ring has some adjustment for elevation (and maybe windage). So I guess maybe not 100yds but maybe 300-600yds?

I plan on putting a 1000 yard zero on the rifle, just for ease of zeroing at typical KD ranges. The likelihood of this rifle ever being fired at 100 yards is vanishingly small.

That said, I’ll do the load development on it at 300 yards, as usual.
