The Ftr winner was Bryan Litz with scores of 200-11X, 199-14x, and 200-12X for a Agg. of 599-37X. Both used identical Scoville stocked Pierce Barreled actions. Both are members of the Michigan Ftr Team and the USA Ftr team.
They shot on the same relay, side by side. NRA records may have been set, but alas it was an approved match not a registered match.
35 shooters were at the match, 20 Ftr, 10 F open and 5 sling shooters.
The top 5 Ftr shooters were all Michigan FTR team members and members of the USA Ftr team.

When I first started shooting FTR with an old Remington .223, I was loading the old Harris bipod and not doing so well. When I got my Gen I Sinclair, I couldn’t do anything consistently attempting to load it like a Harris. Once are started letting it free fire, things really improved. That low stock is probably the key to try and minimize bipod hop. Resetting the bipod every shot was not conducive to a great score. There’s a fine line between free fire and controlling hop. Glad to see I was on the right track. Haven’t shot F class in a while. Need to get back out there.

In last weekends midrange state championship in Midland, MI, I shot my Pierce rifle into first place with a 598-44X (20 shots at 300, 500 and 600). Once you get used to the positioning and way of shooting these rifles, they just pour shots thru the center of the target.

If you don’t know him, John is a really neat guy. John came into FTR with a background in building race engines and Benchrest shooting (good combination for an F-class shooter!) He’s certainly elevated the shooting in Michigan. When you buy a gun from him it’s a full service deal. Sponsor, gunsmith and shooter on both the Michigan Rifle Team-FTR and the US Rifle Team-FTR. Look out for him at nationals this fall!
