They use all of the alloys to build planes and parts of planes. The nonsense of calling 6061 aircraft grade is meaningless. It is especially meaning less when you consider that 2024 is the most commonly used alloy in aircraft. Even more so when you consider that 7075 was specifically developed and intended for use in military aircraft,not for firearms. When it was developed there were no real firearms made from light alloys. The article is helpful in that it explains the alloy numbering system but the rest is misleading and useless info.
