I bought the bluetooth version from Amazon about a month ago and only used it once so far while rounding edges of some thick pieces of aluminum with an edge sander (loud w/o hearing protection).

I could hear the grinding but wasn't loud at all and I was also playing music (at a low volume) that I had no trouble hearing. My co-workers had to close the office door because the grinding was so loud they couldn't hear themselves talking (should have been working anyway lol). Office was about 50 feet away.

Only issue I had was the music cut out off and on for a minute or two, after using it for the first several minutes, then it was fine. But, even considering that, I'm very happy with the purchase.

Only recommendation I have is if you're planning on using this in a loud work environment, and want to listen to music (it more than likely will not last a 8 hour shift btw), make sure there's a good return policy in case the cutting out/in really is an issue and not interference or something.

Some thoughts re the BlueTooth version:

1. There are already electronic muffs that offer music-playing capability. Whether it is appropriate to have the music running is a choice the owner makes according to the situation.

I do agree that its unwise to play music when using a firearm.

2. The Razor-XV isn't restricted to use at the range. Someone may wish to use this "earbud headset" unit while operating a riding lawnmower, or being near a noisy generator etc.

From the Amazon description of the BT version "Now featuring Bluetooth, you can stream your favorite music, or even take a phone call all while protecting yourself from the harmful effects of muzzle blast. The razor XV also features independent volume control between the microphone and Bluetooth feed. In a shooting scenario this allows you to stream your music quietly and still allow for range commands over the top of the music when the microphones are turned up. In a hunting scenario, you can quietly listen to music, stream a sports game, or take a phone call and not miss out on anything running in! the razor XV GWP-NHE-BT is a serious game changer for any shooter or Hunter alike."

So now the shooter can listen to music and take calls... Sounds like the same problem with cell phone use in cars, distractions! But now the distraction is to a person with a gun in their hands. How quickly will these be banned from competitive shooting? Hopefully before they even start shipping!

Again...another new product and ZERO info on the manufacturer's website!!! Please spend a couple of bucks and hire a day-one marketing person. Please!

I looked at their site to try to get an idea about why one would want the Bluetooth version. From the description on the Amazon page - " Now featuring Bluetooth, you can stream your favorite music, or even take a phone call all while protecting yourself from the harmful effects of muzzle blast. BTW, neither model is in stock on Amazon.
