I'm not convinced until I see a thermal image of 2 barrels at the same time. Having a the inner conductor wearing an outer insulator isn't going to magically dissipate heat. Without the barrel acting as a heat sink, it will likely back up into the next coolest body, the receiver. I get that it's a weight saver, but let's not that it makes your barrel cooler - because the chamber is probably going to be glowing for a long time after a fast couple of shots.

The only logical reason to use one of Proof's barrels is in building an ultralight hunting gun.
Paired with a titanium action and a carbon fiber Manners stock you can build a rifle you can carry all day/night.

It's a niche, and at over $800 per barrel their market narrows even more, but as far as I know they are the only ones* making them.

But kudos for them doing something different - it's how we progress.

*I;m sure I'll be told they weren't the first or the only.....

No one seems to ever ask about thermal capacity and dissipation of carbon fiber wrapped barrels. Heat transfer through carbon fiber is very directional and at best about half the conduction rate of aluminum. How has proof or other carbon wrapped barrel mfg's tackled this problem.
