Unfortunately not a solid top or integrated rail, not larger Diameter. I’m waiting for BAT to do their repeaters in titanium.

Titanium does not machine as “slick” as 416 stainless or even 4140.

It is “weird” stuff and in “high-stress” applications, requires special fasteners etc. Talk to airframe fitters who work on “serious’ aircraft and such.

It is also not the easiest material to investment cast, though it CAN be done by some tricky work in a vacuum system.

Worth all the drama?

Depends on how “Ultra-Light” you want to get.

Historically, Mr. Stoner solved the receiver strength problem by NOT requiring his clever little rifles to transfer firing stresses through the aluminium body, but through a short, steel “barrel extension”.

The titanium actions usually go together with a Proof carbon-fiber wrapped barrel and a lightweight stock.

More a carry/field gun than a target killer.

Is the bolt titanium or conventional? Is there any galling between steel or stainless steel and titanium?

Wouldn’t this mean adding another pound to the butt stock for balance?
I guess not if the barrel was very light as well.

$700 mark-up just to put a different material in the machine using the same fixtures and tooling? Heat treated 6Al4V round bar is not $700 per 8″ piece.

I might pay $1900 for something titanium that has integrated 20MOA rail and recoil lug, fluted 3-lug bolt repeater with Jewell trigger etc but for a basic rem700 footprint, that’s just taking advantage of ignorant customers.
