I Have been shooting the 6XC for nearly a decade in F-Open on a Quadlite action. The PacNor 5R 1:8 twist has 4917 rounds on it as of Saturday 29 April. At 2500 rounds it was rechambered and recrowned. It still groups within 1/2 minute or less depending on loads, primarily Berger 105 gr VLDs and Sierra 107 gr projectiles for ten rounds. Whoever came up with the 2200 barrel life is not well informed. Also, the cost of the 6XC is approximately 20% less than the .308 to reload.

Calculate the cost to shoot a few of my Big Bore rifles some afternoon.
Start with the 404 Jefferys and 425 Westley Richards, and then do 550 Gibbs.

I have shot 6BR & 6BRX for years and have seen multiple barrels from different shooters go 5,000 rds and still shoot high x counts.

6BR is the most bang for the buck out there.

Id argue the 6 BR is quit a bit cheaper than the .308. 6 mm bullets are a lot less, much less powder, with very similar barrel life.
