I can see it now. Someone is going to start making a 145 or 150gr bullet in 6.5mm with a really good BC and everyone will switch again.

Informative article and congrats to Emil. Shooters should be prepared to re-barrel and restock supplies ever time a new bullet comes out to stay competitive. Just a short time ago the 6.5 .284 was the choice till the 7mm 180 berger came out then its switch time. Like bench rest its very much a equipment game. F-TR's not quite as bad. Or good depending on the depth of ones pockets.

Here is an idea:

.284 or a .284 Improved of some kind for 1,000 yard paired with a 7-47 Lapua for 600 and varmint matches. Same bullets. Same barrel. You can use same powders. Different primers is a drag, but you can't have everything. I guess you could do a 7-Creedmoor and get the LRP, but miss out on the SRP advantages.

I'm shooting the 7-47L exclusively these days. Nice little cartridge. Still have my 284 Shehane stuff, though, in case life changes and 1,000-yard matches are available.
