Reading the article it seems untrained personel gets the blame.
The cabling and the electrical installation , looks like it has been made by complete amateurs, and installed the same way.
Can hardly blame the people operating in the pit for that.

I was a little disturbed (or maybe disappointed) by some of the content of the article. The writer exhibits a martyr like tone in one paragraph then subsequently places the blame on the volunteer pit crew for being untrained and overly enthusiastic about moving the targets. It was hardly the pit crews fault for not having been properly trained or supervised.

Ouch! We had a similar (but much smaller scale) experience with the e-targets at our range. After placing the target frame in the carrier, one of the sensor cables got snagged as the carrier was raised into position, pulling it apart. We managed to find a replacement cable locally for the weekend match, and the vendor rep (Stallings Machine / Silver Mountain) sent us a new cable as well.

Definitely a learning curve as to the 'care and feeding' of the new target systems!
