Dick's can make whatever inventory decisions they desire. That's a simple business decision based on what they believe is best for the company long-term. I have no beef with that per se. And I think most of us already identified the hypocrisy of the company in pretending to look principled by ceasing the selling of AR's in their MAIN stores while continuing to sell them in the Field & Stream chain. It's all a facade intended to create a false perception.

The curious thing is this move to limit rifle purchases to buyers aged 21 or older in locations that legally allow those items to be bought by anyone a8 or above. Now generally I'm 100% for companies to be able to set whatever policies they want. I'm fairly libertarian in that regard; however, if Dick's is going to be PUSHING for NEW legislation, then they need to be forced to adhere to CURRENT legislation which states that any adult passing a background check can purchase a rifle.

If they as a store agree to selling those items, then they need to conform to the state law regarding buyers' ages as well, otherwise it seems like it would become an issue of age discrimination to me. I know there are a couple of lawsuits filed against them already on these grounds. I ultimately hope they succeed, not because we need more litigation, but because if they are pushing for a new legislative standard for Americans, then they need to hold to those already in place.

I would guess that the majority of the real gun owning public saw Dick's for what it really is a very long time ago . Like the saying goes ; if you see something , say something ......Call every company that has joined the NRA Boycott , and tell them you won't be spending any more of your red , white , and blue gun-owning dollars in their businesses . If you own their stock , sell it . The only "Morals" companies like "Dick's" has , is to it's bottom line , as they pander to the current wave of anti-gun psychosis .

It's time ; once again , to say something . To your state Reps , State Senators , Congressman , Senators , and any damned-body else who has a public office and is involved in policy and law-making .Clog their phone lines , for if we go quietly into the night , we will surely go quietly into the night . And it will become the beginning of the end for our 2A rights .
The left-wing , anti-gun fanatics are not going to quit . Ever . Until we are a totally dis-armed , socialist police state .

We didn’t know this yesterday, but Wal-Mart announced it is now doing the same thing.

More surprisingly, the morning headline is that Trump calls for sweeping gun control legislation.

Every time this kind of attention is paid to the AR-15, magazine capacity limits, etc., their production and sales increase. These are American manufacturing plants and employees, benefitting.

I own up that, personally, shooting and collecting is dna encoded, but for those people who never gained a thing from guns or 2nd Amendment AND were unfortunate enough to be victimized by a criminal with a gun such as an AR-15, it’s a tough pill, granted.

However, 70 miles south of home, Mexico’s violence shows us what results from the lack of widely dispersed powerful weapons. For the same reasons concealed carry is largely successful as a deterrent to crime, or a quick end thereto, so is the common knowledge that many Americans are within 30 seconds or so of procuring their personally owned, crime-ending firearm. This fact may not deter a suicidal shooter but most criminals aren’t suicidal, and there is no doubt that widespread gun ownership has saved untold lives.

Back when the Dems were trying to make AR's illegal that created such a shortage of AR's, Dicks canceled all orders on their books for AR's. That threw a lot of people who had been waiting months and months back to the beginning of the line at another store. That was the last time I set foot in a Dicks, and I'll never go back. Their decision on this is confirmation that I made the right decision.

Every time I went to Dick's to purchase ammo they were out, so I stopped going. Not selling AR type rifles isn't a problem to me as they probably don't carry them anyway. They remind me of Sports Chalet which is now OOB. They may be a big chain, but so was Sports Chalet.

Dick's in my area have not had any AR type rifles in years. Not that I care, I will not do any business with Dick's. Too many good companies to worry about stores like Dick's.

Follow-up to this story from a friend of mine: "Edward W. Stack, the CEO of the family business, Dick’s Sporting Goods...In making his extraordinary announcement this morning to as wide an audience as possible on ABC’s Good Morning America show,
Stack claimed that in November of last year, a Dick’s store sold a shotgun to Nikolas Cruz! Claiming that Dick’s didn’t want to
be a part of this story, he was making the announcement that the chain would not sell any firearms to anyone under 21 years
of age...."

Looks like damage control to me...
