There is absolutely no way I would pay a thousand dollars for a rifle and not pick the stock I will be looking at for the rest of my life. This is worse than a mail order bride. An ugly rifle is harder to get rid of than an ugly wife.

Unfortunately, Steyr has allowed retailers to sell the new Zephyr II rifles in a "non stocked" status, which results in dealers not actually having the rifle in hand. This means no photographs of the wood. Steyr can control this, which they choose not to do. This is the difference between an Austrian Steyr company and a USA Steyr Company. Quality and good customer service is not a complicated thing. When you call up a dealer and ask to see the rifle that you will actually be buying and the dealer says, "I can't because we don't actaully have the rifle here"... that is American, bad customer service and has no place in Steyr's business model. If you want to turn Steyr into a mass quantity cheap rifle selling business, this is the way to do it. The pursuit of profit over quality is not an Austrian motto. It is an American motto. America has never sought out quality in production. Only quantity and profit. This motto has absolutely nothing to do with quality and when you see Americans take over quality companies like Steyr Arms, or Heckler & Koch, or Sig Sauer, you see customer service decline, quality erased, and the product eventually melts into all the other cheap firearms on the market. Steyr should mandate any dealer who sells their items, to actually have the rifle in hand and provide photos of the rifle to perspective buyers. This is how you maintain a QUALITY brand.

the new Steyr looks really nice hopefully it is better made than my anchutz 1517 which has been one problem after another, 1st had the barrels channels shaved out, then the barreled action replaced, now I found out the stock was improperly dried so I have have it bedded, if that does not work then restocking. huhuhu
