The same thing would have happened with a .22 BR cartridge.

Editor: Not quite. Yes the bullet was swaged down and exited, but there still was a huge increase in pressure. Bullet diameter DOES make a difference — note the serious Kabooms that have occurred with 300 BLKs fired in .223-cal AR15s. The case is a good make but the blow-up happens because of a .308 cal bullet in a .223 bore.
