For the forum member dogging the 300 PRC, I believe you will eat your words.

Much like the folks who stated the 6.5 Creed was a flash-in-the-pan, over rated cartridge that does the same as .260 Rem, you are not seeing the potential. This is not built to compete ballisticly with the 300 Norma Mag. That round matches 338 Lapua ballistics in everything but raw energy ...but at the price of an XL action and bolt head and LOTS of powder.

The 300 PRC is like a 300 Win Mag+p,it can be fired in a standard long action and gets rid of the useless belt left over from when Englishman used double guns to hunt elephants on the "dark continent" between tea and crumpet breaks. No rebated rim and optimal case design to load heavy for caliber bullets long and still fit in a magazine. What in North America could you not hunt or hit with this 30 cal? At my elevation it will be supersonic to 2000 yds, with plenty of energy to take game ethically within 1000 yds. Ultimate doesn't mean the most powerful, but means the last one needed. Describes this new round pretty well actually.
