Probably good advice but I started on a Square Deal B Dillon progressive. That press is long gone and I have a 550, 650 and a Rockchucker. I've loaded (or not loaded as the case may be) more squibs on the 550 than all my other presses combined. Manual indexing has it's advantages and disadvantages.

One of the most useful things you can have when using a progressive press, (I run a tweaked version of the Lee 100 for 9mm ) is a GOOD lamp on a flexible arm.

I bought a LED cluster one from my local "light shop", for about twenty dollars (Oz). It is sold as a "reading" lamp, designed to be clamped to a bed-head, thus a spring-loaded clamp that neatly attaches it to the shelving behind my press. The "goose-neck' construction means it is easy to aim where I want it. I have just bought two more to attach to the tool shelf above my lathe. The lamp, being LED is low voltage, and has a "remote" power supply / plug-pack on about six feet of light cable AND an "inline" switch on the cable, near the lamp base.

I keep it aimed at the bullet-seating station, so that, as each case comes around, I can see quite clearly whether it contains powder, before I run it up into the bullet seating die.

I also carry a 12" length of 8mm hard brass rod and a Copper mallet in my pistol range bag, just in case; Murphy was an optimist.
