Somehow I find the more expensive the chrono the easier it is for me to shoot.

Tired some BC testing at 1000 yards one day. The only chrono parts exposed to bullets were the rods and shades on top. Only took us 3 rounds to destroy that.

I really want a chrono small enough to mount directly on the X ring of the 1000 yard highpower target. No doubt I'd be in for a big score that day.

I use a shooting chrony and put an inch of survey ribbon at the joint of the 4 rods that hold up the sun shade. It helps me see if the chrony is lined up straight and also once set up I can clearly see the tape in relation to the the cross hairs on low power. If the gun is all lined up I just turn the power up and shoot:)

Any time that I am unsure about my rifle's alignment with a chronograph, after sighting in on the target, with the bolt removed, I look down the bore, to make sure that I do not see something that I do not want to hit. Most of the time this is not an issue but with fixed power scopes of high power it can be very difficult to see where you are from behind the rifle. This saved some damage one time, and that made it worth the time that it takes.
