I had an almost identical encounter at the range with my brother’s 1911. Niether one of us could hit a paper plate at 15 yards. The man in the next lane heard us and asked if he could try. He proceded to shoot the center out of an ace of spades. He then said if we wanted to learn how to shoot that thing, he was available and offered his card. He was a former coastguard pistol instructor! We all had a good laugh at my brother’s expense.
