There are not material changes made to established ammunition. This test is highly informative. Shooters rely on products to perform as expected without difference as to whether the box was on the front or back of the shelf.

A manufacturer would simply add a new product to the line if a change is warranted, and I don’t se much missing. A round nose 40 grain subsonic is and will always be the match bullet of choice for accuracy. Don’t expect this “wheel” to look different when your kids’ kids host Christmas.

I dare say it doesn’t matter which rifle(s) were used, as long as they were target grade and the same ones tested all ammo, with a competent trigger puller. I am a believer that a “good” rifle and “superb” rifle will rank the ammo the same way. The only difference will be that the excellent rifle will return smaller groups.

This shows you which makers are really drilling down on accuracy. Those same makers are not going to swap ends of this list if it were to be redone.

I would like to see this test continued.

Have seen it several times since 2010. New ammo and new rifles would be very interesting to many readers.
THANKS

This test is a bit old. I bet, that current rifles (could be Bleiker) and current ammo types would perform much different. It would be very very interesting to perform this test again.

Editor: Yes any test, done at any time, with different rifles could yield different results. And yes, wouldn't it be nice to have some updated information. That said, as we noted in the final paragraph, you have to give credit were credit is due. 55 Types of ammunition tested 25 rounds (5x5) each at three yardages. To our knowledge no rimfire ammo test, conducted by ANYbody, ANYwhere, ANY time, comes even close.

Honestly, we are kind of amazed at the short-sightedness of some commentators. They look at a test which represents hundreds of man-hours and thousands of dollars of ammo... and their first reaction is to find fault...

Hey,
Thanks very much for publishing this .22 ammo accuracy data, it's very valuable.
As a frequent .22 shooter I understand the inconsistencies of run of the mill, off the shelf ammo, which is what I shoot most of the time. I'm also a 200 yd golf ball shooter and will now switch to a much higher $ brand for better accuracy.
