A accurate/consistent scale, and weighing to the kernel is one element for consistent match performance regardless of caliber & match type (sling, F-TR, or F-Class). Yes, it takes more time to process complete rounds but that low ‘9’ that was so nicely centered up on the ‘X’ is a bitter pill to swallow.

Agree on the weighing of every charge. Powder kernels stack up and fill the throwing chamber slightly differently every time, just like the same weight of powder will funnel in and rise to different levels in each case. We have all seen the little columnar scoops provided in reloading kits, but I don’t know anyone to trust a scoop with a straight edge run across the top for long range precision.

I have yet to see a “good quality, calibrated” scale that cannot out perform the best powder measure. I believe measured charges may be one of the most important factors that can be controlled in building an accurate load.

It’s interesting to me that such a question & tolerance would arrive from OgvOAL. I have always, easily, held this well under a thou, and really don’t understand how someone could wind up 2thou off in seating..
Seriously, given the affects of distance to lands with some chambers(if not jamming), I would stop and fix whatever is broken to put your bullets on the money.

No wonder so many of you jam..
You probably couldn’t shoot otherwise with a 5thou seating tolerance!

I question the “weigh every charge”. As with any piece of measuring equipment, I believe in “calibration”. I have seen powder measures outperforme a good quality scale. Just because a variation is found, you still need to test & findout if it is the powder measure or the scale that is inconsistent.
