If your range is less than luxuriously appointed, a small shovel and toilet paper.

The "essential roll" is also useful for wiping up small oil / bore-cleaner spills. It also makes for a handy wind-flag source; just attach a few feet to spare target stakes or convenient tree branches, and you are done.

If you are having a range BBQ afterwards, the 'wind-flags make good kindling (not so much if your BBQ is gas-fired). and you can use (CLEAN!!) toilet paper to wipe down the BBQ hot-plate before and after cooking.

I keep a couple of rolls in Zip-Loc bags in my vehicle. They are handy for wiping oil dipsticks and dirty hands.

Always another roll in a plastic bag in the basic range bag.

Keep it dry! There is not much more useless than wet toilet paper.

Anyone tried using the alcohol-based hand cleaners with a bit of toilet paper to get the BBQ started?
