I just bought one the 7-35x56mm for general target shooting & PRS. Perfect holdover & windage points without more clutter than needed. Love the fine dot better than the open reticle. Better clarity & brightness than my NF ATACR.

is not this scope in 1. focal plane and primarily used for tactical field?

Editor: Leupold produces TWO (2) version of the Mark 5HD 7-35x56mm scope. We reviewed the SECOND Focal Plane Version. There is also a FIRST Focal Plane version with seven (7) different reticle choices. Here is a link to the first focal plane version:

https://amzn.to/2tC9jik

And here are the FFP Reticle options. Most are rather complex, with hold-off points:

I have two of the VX-6 7-42X56 scopes for FT-R and find the power adequate for long-range (1000yd.). This new scope would be great for midrange and steel matches when you have to change distances between targets.

I am a European who lives in Australia. Leupold is one of the great American industries along with so many others who produce world-class products.
I hope the high standard continues and the US industry does not succumb to cheap and nasty as so many others have.
If it is worth doing then it is worth doing well - and then some.

No mention of accepting Alumina flip-ups, which are a fantastic accessory.
Also, tired of all the Hollywood reticles. They should cover at least the basics with a med-fine crosshair option.
Another thing that should be validated and mentioned is that Leupolds are of few scopes that actually adjust 1.047IPHY per MOA.

I really like Leupold Scopes, but they need to have at least 45x to be of any use to 600 and 1000 yd competition. I would like to see 45x - 55x.
