Think of it like a stick – the longer the stick, the easier it is to apply leverage, and the easier it is to snap in half. IMO, F-Class rifles with 32″ barrels, approaching 52″+ overall are an invitation for baggage handlers to test basic physics on your gear. Using something like a Pelican 1750 or 1720, and pulling the barreled action, reduces that potential, in my opinion. I don’t see a downside.

With a glue-in, I’d probably pull the barrel and bring a barrel vise with me. I’ve had enough experience pulling and installing barrels that I’m not worried about changes to performance.

With a spotting scope, I’m looking to first identify what I think is the prevailing condition (mirage). This is during prep period mostly. Then I use it to keep an eye out for things that indicate a change to that condition between shots. After you get used to it, you can make a pretty fast and accurate estimate without spending a ton of time in it.

Do you like to screw off your barreled action off the stock for travel or you don’t prefer to do that?
