The match, shown in the video, was held at the Dale Wimp Rifle Range near Visalia, California. I have shot a few matches there, and you will not meet a finer bunch. For the uninitiated, the concentric circles and superimposed square are only there to make aiming easier. Groups may be located anywhere within the rectangle that defines the record target. Not shown (if I remember correctly) were the signter targets that are below the record targets, on the same paper. Shooters are allowed unlimited sighters during each match, and they may go to the sighter after starting their record group. One small correction, only sanctioned 1-200 yd. group shooting requires moving (and stationary) backers. Score does not. Typically, clubs start benchrest programs with so called "club" matches, that may have less demanding rules, and if there is enough shooter interest, progress to sanctioned group and/or score matches. If you are a technical type, and like a challenge, you might enjoy trying benchrest.
