Never been in one but what a shame. The acquisition of Cabelas ruined that chain.

S.W. bailed on us here east of the Mississippi river a few years ago when they were first bought out. I avoid Bass Pro (too yuppie) and the closest Cabela’s is in Cook Co. which I avoid because of their extra tax on guns & ammo as well as their 10% sales tax to begin with.
Oh well, there’s still mail order & the internet

Kiss The Variety And Uniqueness Good Buy At Sportsman’s Warehouse.
Used To Love Stopping In The Akney, Iowa Store When I Traveled In Sales.

Sportsman’s Warehouse snuck out of town here a few years ago in the middle of the night. A surprise to their employees. Cabela’s went downhill after the acquisition and is apparently just Bass Pro Shops with a different sign. I rarely shop there. The price premium isn’t generally worth the visit. Thankfully, we still have a regional chain to buy from.

What a terrible loss. It WAS my go to store. I never even go into a Cabela’s or Bass Pro Shop anymore. Have to look for a new place to shop now.
