the standard 55gn. ball is generally referred to as “M-193″ ball and was the “standard” until the SS-109 / M-855 / F1 etc came along with the M-16A2, Steyr AUG, etc.

The NATO spec stuff uses the 62gn composite cored bullet. It has a different external profile and in earlier times, had a green tip, as per the original FN SS-109.

It also needs a 1:10″ twist or faster to stabilize it because of the greater bullet length.
